I choose poorly when it came to the drybrush colour choice on this poor woman's top. And I clearly missed some spots on the dress. But her face is okay, and so are the glasses.

For some reason, I've accumulated at least a dozen primate miniatures over the last few years. I think it's the influence of DC Comics which has a decades-old fascination with chimps, gorillas, monkeys, and so on, due to sales often spiking when primates were featured on their comic covers.

Fallout Girl Arrives in New Vegas

A few weeks ago I ordered a homemade "Welcome to New Vegas" sign from Etsy. It arrived today, freshly painted by the vendor. (Fallout Girl, painted by me, for scale.) I think it'll make a nice bit of terrain on that happy day when I eventually host a game of Fallout: Wasteland Warfare.

Two Shots Malone

Tonight, I painted a hovercraft, its driver, and a small trailer. I asked Sean to name the driver, and he promptly dubbed him Two Shots Malone ". . .as he always takes two shots of whiskey immediately after his shift." I love it! 

Happy Birthday, Mom--2023 Edition

Sean, Sylvia, and I went out to visit Mom on Saturday to celebrate her birthday (a couple of days early, since her actual birthday is today). There's nothing quite like spending a beautiful sunny afternoon BBQing and chatting with the people you love. 

Happy Birthday, Mom! Thanks for having us over. The potato salad was amazing, and kudos to Sean for BBQing a perfect beer can chicken. 

 

Home is the Hunter

This hale and hearty hunter's face is well-defined, and I'm pretty happy with his hair and beard. I almost got the mustache, too, but not quite. Looks okay on the table, though.

Meats for Sale

It's a rack of cured meats, and I painted it! Some meats look more realistic than others, but overall, I think this turned out fairly well. 
 

Warhawk

Try to imagine that the whole car is red, but the front end is covered with a shell of armor. That's the effect I was attempting. 
 

Typhoon

Primary colours rule this mean machine. Looks pretty slick, although now I'm thinking maybe I should have kept the hood blue. Or maybe mostly blue, but with a red stripe down the middle. 
 

Jackrabbit

Another Car Wars car, painted by Yours Truly. Moderately happy with this one. 
 

Hammer

Hammer time! This Car Wars model is a bit more weathered than some of those featured in my recent posts. 
 

Dragon

Another Car Wars car, this one again painted mostly with contrast paints, coating lightly as best I could. Not a bad result.
