While Sean, Sylvia, Mom and I were driving down to Kelowna to visit Mom's sisters, we had a discussion about the merits of beans. During that discussion, I came up with the concept of baked bean soup. Here is the recipe:
BAKED BEAN SOUP
Ingredients
One can of baked beans
Two whole new potatoes
One rasher of bacon
1 tablespoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon cilantro
1 basil leaf
1 sprig dill
4 dollops sour cream
2 cups shredded cheddar
Preparation
Chop new potatoes into small chunks. Chop bacon into small squares. Pour all ingredients into stewpot and boil for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Let cool for five minutes, pour into serving bowls, and add sour cream and shredded cheese.
Enjoy!
I would serve this as the appetizer to your chili.

Although, and I am trying to be as kind as I can be, I wonder if you've tested the recipe. Boiling a can of beans will give you super-soft beans but I doubt it would be enough to cook the other ingredients to doneness in that time. You wouldn't get soup out of it as there's no stock (dependant on how the beans were processed before canning), you have kind of a boiled baked bean stew with two new potatoes sticking out of it like golf balls.
Put all that aside and this is me and my opinion personally, but I don't believe I have used a full tablespoon of nutmeg in all of my cooking through out my life put together, let alone drop a tablespoon of the stuff into a single dish. You really like nutmeg that much?
All that nutmeg plus the salt already in the beans plus all of that dairy, I'd definitely need your chili to wash that down.
The bay leaf must be removed at the end, as well. Even after hours of cooking, bay leaves don't soften all the way through and will be spiny and uncomfortable to eat at best and at worst present a serious choking hazard if they slice or puncture your throat on the way down.
Lest you are thinking that I am being too critical - I never really know if I am or not - I also have my own Roast Koala In Fisherman's Friend Sauce recipe, which I admit I have yet to test for the kitchen:

Let's put it this way: I would make your boiled baked bean soup before I would attempt the roasted koala. Maybe I would add that bay leaf in the Fisherman's Friend sauce, though.
