So, the Bryan Fuller/Nick Meyer Star Trek show will be Star Trek: Discovery, and it looks like the ship design may be the one that Star Wars illustrator Ralph McQuarrie originally designed for the abandoned Planet of the Titans film. Frankly, I hardly know what to make of this; surely they can't be making a show in the vein of 1970s science fiction, can they? Because that would be...amazing.
If nothing else, I love the title; discovery is exactly what Star Trek is all about. Between this and season 3 of Twin Peaks, it's going to be a long 2016 for me...

I'm familiar with Ralh McQuarrie, but not the Titans project you mentioned...did you think though, that from below, the Discovery looks a bit like the Vulcan IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Inffinite Combinations) insignia?
As to '70s sci-fi, I agree, that would be amazing. Isn't D.C Fontana onboard in some capacity? That could bode well...
2017 can't come fast enough!
I thought I read that the program will be available in Canada on Netflix, do you know if that's true?
I don't think Netflix Canada gets it (although they have the rest of the Trek library!); Bell Canada's saying they will air the premiere on CTV (the same night as CBS in the US), then subsequent episodes will air on Space, and finally CraveTV, their streaming service. http://www.bellmedia.ca/pr/press/new-cbs-star-trek-television-series-to-live-long-and-prosper-in-canada-with-bell-media/
But then, a reporter for Global said it would be on Sony's streaming service, Crackle, which makes no sense at all to me. http://globalnews.ca/news/2845659/star-trek-discovery-trailer-cbs-teases-sci-fi-shows-return-to-tv/
Bell has more credibility with me at this point, but hopefully things become clearer as January gets nearer!
That is hopeful. The new CRTC rules for cable are that we should be able to pick and pay for channels in December.
The deal CBS made is this: Star Trek: Discovery will be on Netflix in all countries except Canada and the United States. In the USA, the premiere episode will air on CBS; after that, Americans will need a CBS All Access subscription to watch the remaining episodes via streaming. In Canada, the premiere will air on CTV; after that, episodes will run on Space. Then they'll be on Crave.
