I'm still sick. If anything, I feel worse today than I did yesterday. I don't have any photos of me being sick, but I do look somewhat distressed here thanks to Steven's choke hold, so...it's somewhat thematic, I guess. I don't recall the exact context of this photo, but I found the negative in the same batch as that containing images of Jeff and Susan's move from Edmonton to British Columbia, so perhaps these were taken at the same event.
As Tam commented insightfully on my last post, whenever those of us in generally good health feel sick, we should try to be grateful that ours is a temporary affliction, gone in a few days. People with chronic health problems aren't nearly so fortunate, so it's a bit rich to be grumpy over something as minor as a flu or head cold. On the other hand, it's hard to be philosophical when you're in pain, and I think anyone that feels bad can be forgiven for feeling a little sorry for themselves, however briefly.
It may hurt to laugh at this picture right now, but I'm still glad I found it.
Yes, that's all very good and all, but I am extremely concerned here.
ReplyDeleteThe point that is not being mentionead at all is that Earl never gets sick.
I have had cadres of colds, fought off the flu, grappled the grippe many, many times over before Earl has ever experienced sniffle one. Apart I think from last year, I cannot recall Earl ever suffering from a cold, and that goes all the way back to University before this picture (I'm pretty sure you're right, we were moving).
A) I've always been jealous over Earl's resistance to colds, but much more alarming to our species as a whole,
B) This must be one hell of a virus that managed to het a handful of snub fighters past Earl's Deathstarian immune system. If it should spread, I expect the rest of us to be doomed. Doomed! DOOMED, I TELL YOU!!
Get well soon, Earl, or humanity has had it.
Please get well, soon, Earl. I'll even use some messaging that goes after your altruistic side: please get better not just for your sake, but for the Organization as well. I wrote a press release today, and, while I'm proud of what I wrote and think it's pretty good, it still wasn't as good as an Earl J. Woods Special.
ReplyDeleteHey John,
ReplyDeleteI just read your releases and they're both excellent. Almost as excellent as your photos of the Capitals game, which I'm about to use as fodder for perhaps the laziest blog post ever.
As for you, Jeff, I'm afraid my immune system isn't what it was when I was in my twenties...either that or I'm hanging around with a deadlier class of pathogen, as you surmise.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear that you are sick. Try to give your body what it needs to rebuild your army of blood cells, Vitamin C, fluids, and rest. And of course a little wifely pity does come in handy when Jeff is sick. Actual Susan quote, "just walk it off."
