Search My Blog!

Did you know that Blogger includes a search function? I just discovered it now, despite having curated this blog for...zounds, over a decade! You can search The Earliad by typing your search terms into the little window in the upper-left corner of your browser, as illustrated above. This'll make it easier for me when I'm attempting to follow up on old posts!

  1. Blogger has drifted equally in terms of utility and relevance, as we are all aware. Doesn't mean that I don't love your blog, or mine for that matter. Here is what I know about the search function:

Blogger used to have their own proprietary search engine that searched within blogs. The widget I use in my main search window on JSVB is that tool. Or was. It didn't always work very well, since it depended on how many times the blog was searched. The more your followers searched your blog, the more accurate it became. Maybe I should have encouraged followers? Pah, I say. Let the plebs do their own searching.

Google™ coerced Blogger to add the mandatory search box that you have spotlighted when Google™ bought blogger around five years ago. That search window simply uses the Google™ Search Engine. Not long since, the widget I use was converted to the regular Google™ Search Engine as well. Now both search windows are identical.

Google™ tracks and collates all searches as usual, but at least its polling and crawling of blogs is more accurate than what Blogger could accomplish. It's way easier than searching through all of your tags, although I do rely on that from time to time since asking Google™ for the Earliad picture where you brazenly stomp through an entire bicycle rack in Leaf Rapids doesn't always yield results. Phrased as a compliment of the highest order as a Great Escape metaphor, Earliad topics are often much too Steve McQueen for Google™'s goose-stepping Internet Stalag patrols to find them.

P.S. Ignore the parts of the movie where the Nazis found Steve McQueen, by the way, otherwise the analogy kind of falls apart. Maybe your posts are more like Charles Bronson...?

  2. I searched and it brought me to Carrion Christmas! Jeff is troubled.

  3. Carrion Christmas is maybe our best film. It's troubling in that along with that I watched a Sopranos Christmas episode, a Brooklyn Nine-Nine Christmas episode and that both Costco and Canadian Tire have Christmas decorations for sale, and it's not even the end of the last week of Summer.

  4. I think Carrion Christmas is in the running as our best film, although Generous Nature is close, and My Love is a Red, Red Spy is the most ambitious. Actually, My Love is a Red, Red Spy might take the prize, if only we hadn't been shooting the final scenes in semidarkness.

Bitter Litter is, of course, the worst. The outtakes from Finger Puppet Star Trek: The Motion Picture were probably the funniest.
