The Age of Asparagus

(To the tune of "The Age of Aquarius")

When the soil
Is warm enough to work
And gardeners
All do the herky-jerk

Then will
The time be on us
The time—
To plant the crowns!

This is the dawning of the age of asparagus
The age of asparagus
Asparagus
Asparagus

Don't forget that they're perennials
Stick them in a spot that's nice
They're not just for California
In Alberta they'll do fine
Tasty spears with juice like wine
Kill all weeds and you will dine on
Asparagus
Asparagus!

Let the spears grow!
Let the spears grow!
Let spears grow tall!

Let the spears grow!
Let the spears grow!
The spears grow tall!

Placement in the garden's crucial
Pick a spot that's nice and warm
Keep away from all perennials
Plant it early, like in March
Water it so it's not parched
It tastes like sugar not like starch

Asparagus!
Asparagus!
